Speaker
Lena Séraphin
Lena Séraphin is an artist-researcher. She holds an MA from Goldsmiths’ and a doctorate from Aalto University. The thesis “Don Quixote Complex and Investigations into Fictionality” deals with writing/reading as a self-constituting practice and transient identity. During this research and a postdoc at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm, she explored artistic practice being sustained by a fictitious colleague. The aim was to demonstrate how the imaginary can cause knowledge-creating agency. The postdoc research “Sharing Text” at Åbo Akademi University was an exploration on collective, perceptual writing in public space and site-specific publishing as a research practice. Lena is currently RP of the artistic research project “transitory writing in no one’s land” supported by the Kone foundation. She is a co-founder of Language-based Artistic Research, a special interest group of the Society for Artistic Research and teaches at Uniarts, Helsinki.
